NUSTAR IS A PRICIPAL INVESTIGATOR (PI)-LED SMALL EXPLORER (SMEX) MISSION THAT PERFORMS SURVEYS AND POINTED OBSERVATIONS. WORK WITH JPL TO DEVELOP THE NUSTAR PROJECT REQUIREMENTS TO BE READY FOR SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS REVIEW (SSR). 3. DESIGN THE FOCAL PLANE ASSEMBLY, PERFORM REQUIRED ANALYSES, IDENTIFY ALL LONG LEAD PARTS, AND INITIATE LONG LEAD PROCUREMENTS AS REQUIRED. 4. DESIGN THE INSTRUMENT ENCLOSURES, SHIELD, AND APERTURE, PERFORM REQUIRED ANALYSES, IDENTIFY ALL LONG LEAD ITEMS, AND INITIATE LONG LEAD PROCUREMENTS AS REQUIRED. 5. COMPLETE THE GLASS PRODUCTION FACILITY, PRODUCE THE NUSTAR GLASSES TO VERIFY THE PRODUCTION CAPABILITY. 6. DEVELOP PROTOTYPES FOR THE OPTICS ASSEMBLY, DESIGN THE OPTICS ASSEMBLY AND THE PRODUCTION FACILITY, AND PERFORM REQUIRED ANALYSIS. 7. COMPLETE THE PRELIMINARY DESIGN OF THE MAST, CANISTER AND INSTRUMENT STRUCTURE, IDENTIFY LONG LEAD PROCUREMENTS. 8. COMPLETE THE SPACECRAFT REQUIREMENTS, PERFORM SYSTEM ENGINEERING ANALYSES, AND CONTINUE THE BASELINE SPACECRAFT DESIGN. 9. COMPLETE THE MOS (MISSION OPERATIONS SYSTEM) REQUIREMENTS AND THE PRELIMINARY MOS PLAN.
