The directive applies� anywhere sterile processing or HLD occurs� within VA medical facilities and establishes� national standards for environmental controls, equipment standardization, and quality assurance VHA Directive 1220 establishes the infrastructure and complexity requirements for VA medical facilities performing invasive procedures to ensure patient safety and appropriate facility capabilities.
