Must have a trinocular optical head compatible with digital imaging systems. Must have strain free, infinity corrected optics with centerable objectives suitable for PLM (e.g., 4x 40x). Must include polarizer and analyzer with full 360 degree rotation. Must have a compensator slot compatible with first order red ( ) plates or equivalent retardation plates. Must include a high quality, centerable substage condenser capable of Köhler illumination. Must have a stable, adjustable intensity transmitted light LED or halogen illumination source. Must include a mechanical stage capable of smooth X Y travel and secure slide retention. Must have precise coarse and fine focus controls suitable for fiber morphology evaluation. Must allow for routine PLM calibration and alignment with low internal strain optical components. Place of Performance Equipment shall be delivered to the Captain James A.
