Description
BACKGROUND: Air monitoring for sodium hydroxide during condenser coil cleaning, and a visual observation of the cleaning process for possible ergonomic issues in the HVAC system. SCOPE: Air monitoring for sodium hydroxide during condenser coil cleaning, and a visual observation of the cleaning process for possible ergonomic issues in the HVAC Department. Visual observation of the boiler cleaning process to determine if monitoring is necessary. Air monitoring for silica and respirable dust during drywall demolition/sanding in the Carpentry Shop. Air monitoring for tin and antimony during soldering activities in the Plumbing Shop. The testing firm shall prepare a separate written report of its findings with recommendations for corrective action, if applicable, after all test results are collated, analyzed and summarized. In addition, the exposure assessment forms will be updated for each of the six (6) departments. Air sampling will be conducted as per the applicable methods and all samples will be analyzed at an accredited laboratory. The research firm will provide an investigation and final report preparation shall be under the direction of a Senior Project Manager PERIOD OF PERFORMANCE Contractor will have 30 days of contract award to complete the testing. CLEAN UP AND DISPOSAL: 1) Housekeeping: a. The contractor shall maintain a clean work environment, ensuring the area is free from debris after the completion of all services provided under this contract. b. If the Program Coordinator finds the area where services were provided to be unacceptable, the contractor at his/her own cost shall re-clean the area until acceptance is gained. 2) Disposal of Trash and Hazardous Waste: a. The contractor shall be responsible for the removal of all trash and debris from VA property after the completion of all services provided under this contract. b. The contractor shall comply with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the Department of Transportation (DOT), State, and all other applicable regulations governing the proper handling, disposal, and removal of waste. SECURITY REQUIREMENTS All contractor representatives who perform this work shall acquire the appropriate VAHCS identification badges. Tools and equipment may not be left unattended. SCHEDULE Performance Start: The contractor shall begin performance within 10 days of receipt of the Notice to Proceed. Working Hours: The work shall be performed Monday through Friday (except Federal Holidays), 8:00 AM (EST) � 4:00 PM (EST).
