GARY SANITARY DISTRICT SANITARY TREATMENT PLANT UPGRADES - SECTION 219, GARY, LAKE COUNTY, INDIANA (USACE ACQUISITION)

Description

This Pre-Solicitation Notice is being issued by the United States Army Corps of Engineers - Chicago District to inform interested/potential contractors of the District's imminent issue of an Invitation for Bid Package for its construction project entitled, "Gary Sanitary District Sanitary Treatment Plant Upgrades � Section 219, Gary, Lake County, Indiana (USACE Acquisition)." PROJECT INFORMATION: Under the contract, the contractor will be required to perform treatment process which occurs at the headworks of the plant, and consists of a single trash rack followed by a mechanical screening and grit removal. Grit removal is obtained through the grit dewatering system: grit pumps, grit classifiers, process piping, grit hopper and bin activator. The Grit Dewatering Improvements Project will replace the existing grit dewatering equipment with higher capacity and more robust equipment, creating a system that allows Gary Sanitary District (GSD) to meet the grit loading it receives from the collection system and reducing the burden on the primary treatment systems. The Gary Sanitary District (GSD) Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) is a regional facility servicing an area of approximately 400 square miles and a population of roughly 180,000, and is comprised of the Cities of Gary, Hobart, Merrillville, and Lake Station. The North American Industry System Classification Code is 237110, with a small business size standard in dollars of $39.5 Million.
