To all Potential/Interested Suppliers, Brookhaven Science Associates, LLC (herein known as �BSA�), operator of Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL) under a Prime Contract with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), is seeking expressions of interest from firms regarding Magnet Collar Laminations required for the B1pF prototype collaring assembly in the interaction region of the Electron-Ion Collider. The B1pF prototype magnet is being built to validate the design and uncover any uncertainties that would otherwise be found during construction as outlined in the following attachments: Attachment A � SOW_EIC_B1pF_Collar_Laminations Attachment B-Collar Machining Drawings - ***step files can be sent upon request*** Attachment C- SMD-EIC-RD2008_revB Please note that this is an Sources Sought, not a Request for Proposal/Quote, and no solicitation exists at this time. This is for informational and planning purposes only and is not to be construed as a commitment by the U.S. Government, nor will the U.S. Government pay for information received. The information from this notice will help the Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Basic Energy Sciences (BES) survey available resources. Background: The EIC Project will design, build, and install the accelerator hardware for a new electron storage ring, an electron injector, and modifications to the hadron ring required to produce an electron-ion collider and infrastructure. It will include one interaction region, with an allowance for a second, and one detector. The facility is designed to meet requirements to ensure high reliability and availability for the user program. Please provide the following information in your response: 1. Does your company have the capabilities and past experience of similar scope? 2. Please confirm you can do this work in-house, subcontracting is not permitted in the fulfillment of this need. 3. What is the estimated lead time? 4. Would this type of work fall under the Service Contract Act? Or would this be considered a professional service? 5. If a solicitation is posted, and if a follow on contract occurs, the anticipated contract type is FFP. Are there any issues with this contract type? 6. Provide the name of your Firm, point of contact, phone number, address of firm, Unique Entity ID (UEI), and/or CAGE code. Small businesses shall identify socio-economic status as one or more of the following under NAICS 332999 � �All Other Miscellaneous Fabricated Metal Product Manufacturing� Size Standard 750 Employees: 1) small business; 2) 8(a) business (including graduation date); 3) HUBZone small business; 4) small, disadvantaged business; 5) woman-owned small business; 6) service-disabled, veteran-owned small business; or 7) large business. 7. Identify any challenges or risks in meeting the requirements based on the information provided herein and as attached hereto, or any issues that BSA should consider when developing the solicitation. Please provide responses to BSA no later than 16 October 2025. BSA prefers electronic submissions of submittals.
