Description
Item Name: Extinguisher, Fire NSN: 4210-31-019-2865 Part Number: 711054 Minimum Quantity: 15 each Maximum Quantity: 681 each End Item: Armored Multi-Purpose Vehicle (AMPV) Description: The Fire Extinguisher is a critical component of the Armored Multi-Purpose Vehicle (AMPV) Automatic Fire Extinguishing System (AFES) that is essential to vehicle readiness by stopping the spread of spontaneous engine compartment fires. The AFES ensures effective isolation and extinguishment of fires, detecting flames within twelve seconds and automatically extinguishing them within forty seconds, while preventing re-ignition for two minutes. As part of the AFES, the Fire Extinguisher plays an essential role by protecting, storing and supplying the fire suppression agents. The Fire Extinguisher must be compatible multiple fire suppression agents including sodium bicarbonate and HFC-227. The Fire Extinguisher must also be capable of manual actuation, as the AMPV includes a second Fire Extinguisher as a redundant system to provide further protection against engine compartment fires. The Fire Extinguisher must comply with AFES Performance Specification 19207-12596410, which outlines several unique performance requirements. The Fire Extinguisher must remain inert during rapid decompression caused by altitude changes from 15,000 to 40,000 feet in less than fifteen seconds. The Fire Extinguisher must operate without degradation under harsh ballistic shock conditions as specified by MIL-STD-810G. The Fire Extinguisher is also required to be de-contaminable within fifteen-minutes against Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) threats. Additionally, the Fire Extinguisher must fit within the limited space claim of the AMPV engine compartment while still providing the necessary volume of fire suppression agent. Technical Data is not available for this procurement. Procurement is source controlled to Spectronix Ltd. (CAGE: 1333A). Note that this is not a request for proposal.
