Description

The FAA intends to award a firm fixed price contract to ADBSafegate for 496 NIDS KVM Extender Kits. The award will be on a single source basis pursuant to AMS T.3.2.2.4 Single Source Contracting. The Enterprise Information Display System (E-IDS) Program will be replacing all NAS Information Display System (NIDS) Equipment (procured under the Information Display System Replacement(IDSR)). There are approximately 496 NIDS spread across multiple Air Traffic Control Towers (ATCT) and Terminal Radar Approach Control (TRACON) facilities where the Keyboard, Video, and Mouse/Trackball (KVM) cable lengths exceed accepted standards. In these cases an intermediate set of devices called KVM extenders are required to provide the interface between the NIDS workstation located in the facility equipment room or other location and the NIDS display at an air traffic control position. The NIDS System was designed and produced by ADBSafegate under contract to the FAA En Route and Oceanic Support. The NIDS workstation monitor is no longer available in the marketplace and FAALC stock is running low. To facilitate the transition to E-IDS, the FAA NIDS Second Level Engineering Team has selected the E-IDS Viewsonic Monitor (TD2455) as an alternate acceptable monitor for the NIDS System and support the E-IDS transition. To make the E-IDS monitor work with NIDS at these long distances, a NIDS KVM extender was customized to work with the E-IDS Monitor. The new NIDS KVM extender is an ADBSafegate proprietary design that can only be purchased through that company. ADBSafegate is currently the only supplier in the market for the KVM Extenders that are compatible with the E-IDS monitors. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is not seeking or accepting unsolicited proposals. Any questions relating to this announcement may be directed to the Contracting Officer, Katherine McCray, at Katherine.McCray@faa.gov or Contract Specialist, Matthew Dinh at Matthew.t.Dinh@faa.gov no later than June 5, 2026.
