Description

This Sources Sought Synopsis (SSS)/Request for Information (RFI) is issued for informational purposes and market research only; it does not constitute a solicitation. The Government will not reimburse any company or individual for any expenses associated with preparing/submitting information in response to this posting. The information provided may be used by the Government in developing its acquisition strategy, statement of work/statement of objectives, and/or performance specifications. Interested parties are responsible for adequately marking proprietary or competition sensitive information contained within their response as instructed later in this posting. BACKGROUND AND SCOPE The United States (US) Air Force Life Cycle Management Center (AFLCMC), Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance & Special Operations Forces (ISR & SOF) Directorate, Special Warfare Program Office (AFLCMC/WISN) is conducting market research to identify conformable batteries to power wearable hubs for special warfare personnel. CAPABILITY GAP Current batteries used are bulky and obstruct movement of special warfare operators. Additionally, current battery solution options leave the operators (current) battery exposed creating significant risk as the battery is more susceptible to damage by gunfire or other kinetic action. The solution shall be more streamlined and better integrate into an operators silhouette profile and body worn kit. System Requirements: - The battery shall be SMBus and SBData compliant to v1.1 as a minimum. - The battery shall be wearable and of a size less than one (1) inch in thickness/depth and less than 11x11 inches (length/height) to allow concealable and protectable configuration within a ground operators/military members body-worn kit (within kit fabric and/or protected by ballistic plates). - The battery unit less than or equal to 3 pounds in maximum weight (excluding cables, adapters, and charging accessories). - The battery shall be AC/DC chargeable. Other charging capabilities include vehicle and/or solar as preferred secondary options. - The battery should have options to connect equipment via common industry standards and easily configurable to end users future requirements - The battery shall be capable of operating in extreme environments to include temperatures below 20 degrees Fahrenheit and above 130 degrees Fahrenheit. - The battery, when fully charged, shall be capable of providing power exceeding five (5) hours of continuous use
