Description

Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Network Contracting Office 08 (NCO 08) hereby gives notice of the Government s intent to negotiate a sole source, Fixed-Priced Purchase Order with only one source Abiomed, Inc. The Contractor shall provide all labor, travel, equipment, materials, apparatus, tools, supervision and disposal necessary to provide Preventive and Corrective Maintenance on the ABIOMED IMPELLA CARDIAC ASSIT DEVICE located at the Bay Pines VA Health Care System, 10000 Bay Pines Blvd, Bay Pines, FL 33744. This action is for supplies for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of Revolutionary FAR Overhaul 12.102 (a) and 41 USC §1901, only one will meet the Government s needs. Only one source is capable of responding due to the unique or specialized nature of the supplies and/or services. It is the Government s belief that the proposed candidate is the only authorized provider of the services and parts that can meet the agency s needs. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotes. Telephone requests will not be accepted. However, any business that believes it can meet the scope of work may give written notice to william.penhallegon@va.gov by 2:00PM Eastern Standard Time on January 30, 2026. All responsible sources may submit a bid, proposal, or quotation which shall be considered by the agency. Supporting evidence must be furnished in sufficient detail to demonstrate the ability to comply with the above requirement. Responses will be considered by the Government; however, a determination by the Government not to compete the proposed acquisition based upon responses of this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. THIS SYNOPSIS DOES NOT COMMIT THE GOVERNMENT TO CONTRACT FOR ANY SUPPLY OR SERVICE. THE GOVERNMENT WILL NOT PAY FOR ANY INFORMATION OR ADMINISTRATIVE COSTS INCURRED IN RESPONSE TO THIS SYNOPSIS. DESCRIPTION/SPECS/WORK STATEMENT 1. Preventive maintenance, all shipping requirements and loaner, for the ABIOMED Impella ventricular cardiac assist devices used in Cardiology at the Bay Pines VA Healthcare System RM#4B134A-100. Maintenance will include the replacement of system batteries, fans, and complete software upgrade to current factory specifications. EE#91195 SN: IC2627 RM#4B134A-100 Abiomed Impella EE#91196 SN: IC2628 RM#4B134A-100 Abiomed Impella 2. A loaner will be shipped and received with instructions for packaging and shipping VA equipment to the manufacture for preventive maintenance. Also, prepaid shipping documents with RMA #s will be included. Manufacture will be liable for any damage incurred to the VA s cardiac systems. 3. The contractor will provide all hardware and software necessary to complete the system preventive maintenance. Service reports will be included with the device returned from the manufacture. It will include a list of all components replaced, software upgrades that were preformed and a compliance check list. Also, the PM will include a 90 day manufactures warranty.
