Description

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Developments (HUD) Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization (OSDBU) and the Office of Field Policy and Management is partnering with the U.S. Small Business Administration to host "Live Chat with HUD's OSDBU" Webinar Series: Maximizing Growth Through Opportunity Zones and HUBZone Programs. The webinar will take place on MS Teams and is scheduled for Thursday, May 14, 2026 from 1:00pm - 3:00pm (ET). This outreach event will provide information about the Opportunity Zones (OZ) program and how small businesses, particularly Historically Underutilized Business Zone (HUBZone) certified small businesses, can take advantage of the incentives and benefits. Key Objectives: Provide an introduction to the OZ tax incentive. Learn about the new OZ 2.0 permanent tax program and the existing OZ 1.0 program. Understand how Qualified Opportunity Funds (QOF) are used for projects and businesses (start-up and expansion) and hear about examples of QOF investing in both. Uncover how HUD and SBA grants and programs can complement QOF in OZ. Explore the overlay of OZ 1.0 designations, eligible OZ 2.0 census tracts for nomination, and HUBZones and how they can help to maximize growth in communities.
