Description

Lawrence Livermore National Security, LLC (LLNS) is exploring vendor interest for a potential effort to develop a next-generation fiducial flashpole system for marine raft use. The current flashpole has experienced reliability and maintenance challenges in harsh field environments, particularly related to environmental exposure and humidity ingress. LLNS is seeking to identify vendors with the capability and interest to support a future effort to assess, design, prototype, test, and eventually deliver a more robust and maintainable replacement system. At this stage, LLNS is not requesting detailed technical solutions. Instead, the goal is to gauge vendor capability, experience, and interest in supporting a system intended for demanding outdoor marine operations. Areas of interest include high-intensity flashing, external and internal triggering options, environmental durability, field maintainability, firmware support, and long-term lifecycle support. Vendors with experience in ruggedized electro-optical systems, embedded firmware, waterproof or weather-resistant packaging, and field-deployable equipment are encouraged to respond. This inquiry is intended to help LLNS build a qualified bidder pool and better understand available commercial capabilities before any formal solicitation or design effort is launched. Interested vendors should provide an overview of relevant experience, technical capabilities to meet the product requirements (optical performance & functionality, electrical & firmware, environmental protection & reliability, mechanical & structural, and field operations & maintainability), ability to meet the required timeline, and any preliminary comments on their ability to support a future development effort of this type. A Statement of Work with additional details is included with this Sources Sought posting.
