What “open” means here
We count a public notice as open when SAM.gov marks it active and its response deadline falls on or after the date shown here. We do not limit notices by posted date.
Each record has one SAM.gov notice ID and one six-digit NAICS code, so the rows count each notice once. SAM.gov may list related notices under one solicitation as separate records.
These counts do not measure demand, suitability, competition, budget, or your chance of winning.

Sources and method
GovGazette counts notices in its current copy of public SAM.gov opportunities. We use the Census Bureau’s 2022 NAICS structure for official titles. This table compares six-digit national industries. It does not add shorter codes to their child industries.

Current open notice counts
These are the 100 industries with the most open notices. Open an industry name for its official definition. Open a count for current opportunities. The CSV has all 558 six-digit industries with notices.
Limitations
- The figures can still count a notice after its deadline passes, until the next update.
- We leave out 349 open notices assigned to 109 shorter codes. These are direct notice assignments, not totals for child industries.
- The federal buyer assigns NAICS on each notice. The code may not describe every capability or subcontracting option.
- SAM.gov opportunity notices do not cover every micro-purchase, subcontracting opportunity, or state and local procurement.
- “Active” is broader than “open”: it does not require a present, unexpired response deadline.
- Every open notice shown has an official 2022 industry title.
