Description
The proliferation of Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) across the Department of Defense has introduced a significant logistical burden due to the wide variety of proprietary batteries, chargers, and power interfaces. The lack of a common standard impedes interoperability, increasing the physical and cognitive load on the warfighter. To address this challenge, this Request for Information (RFI) is being issued to conduct a market survey of the current landscape of UAS platforms, batteries, and charging solutions. The data gathered from this effort will be used to inform the development of a common battery/charging interface. The establishment of such a standard is a critical Science & Technology (S&T) objective that supports C5ISR strategic priorities with PAE Maneuver Air, CPE Aviation and PAE Maneuver Ground, CPE Ground by enhancing the sustainability and mission effectiveness of UAS assets. This Request for Information has been endorsed by PM UAS. SCOPE This RFI seeks clear, concise, and comprehensive responses from industry, academia, and government partners to address the following areas: Market Survey: Provide technical information on currently available UAS platforms and their associated battery and charging components. The primary focus is to identify and document the specifications of the physical, electrical, and data interfaces used to connect these systems.
