Special Notice Special Notice Page 3 of 3 Special Notice *= Required Field Special Notice Page 1 of 3 The Department of Veterans Affairs, Network Contracting Office 8, intends to place a limited sources order under FAR 8.405 6(b) to acquire Bioventus ultrasonic surgical handpieces from Melling Medical as direct replacements for units used with the Bioventus neXus system. These are the only handpieces that integrate with the neXus platform s proprietary interface and remain compatible with existing consumables. Per the OEM, Melling Medical is the only authorized federal SDVOSB distributor able to provide genuine Bioventus components that meet required interoperability and regulatory standards. As no other source can meet these specialized requirements, this action is justified under FAR 8.405 6(b) and FAR 6.302 1. A Sole Source Justification has been completed and approved in accordance with applicable regulations. Period of Performance: 60 Days ARO This is a Special Notice, not a solicitation. No solicitation package will be issued. The Government does not intend to compete this requirement. However, interested parties may submit capability statements that provide clear and convincing evidence that an alternative source could meet the Government s needs. The Government will review all responses received but is not obligated to conduct a competitive procurement based on them. Response Deadline: 10:00 AM EDT, April 16, 2026.
