Description
consists of the repair of improved access and park visitor experience at Farmington Landing and Fort Foote by improving parking lots, access road, and visitor facilities; these areas are under the jurisdiction of the National Park Service (NPS). The access roads and parking areas for Fort Foote and Farmington Landing are in poor condition, with poor drainage and standing water, potholes, barriers, and lack of signage, and do not provide a high-quality visitor experience or meet the Architectural Barriers Act (ABA) Chapter 10 Outdoor Recreational Standards Chapter 10 Outdoor Recreational Standards (ABA/ABAAS), Unites States Department of Transportation (USDOT), and the State of Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT). Accessibility improvements include grading and re-surfacing with new crushed stone the existing parking lots at Farmington Landing and Fort Foote, as well as grading and re-surfacing with new crushed stone the Fort Foote access road, as well as replacing the existing vehicle barriers at both locations. Other improvements include the removal of damaged benches at Farmington Landing, replacement of the existing trash cans at both locations, addition of new trash cans at both locations, and the removal of the existing defunct composting toilet facility at Fort Foote. Optional items in this scope include providing new picnic tables at Fort Foote and replacing in-kind Visitor Information Signage (VIS) at both locations.
