GENERAL: C.W. Bill Young VA Medical Center Veterans Hospital, 10,000 Bay Pines Blvd Bay Pines, FL 33744, has a requirement for a new Raizer II Battery Mobile Lifting Chair Name Brand or Equal, and slings for patient lifts. BACKGROUND: Outpatient clinics frequently experience patient falls involving individuals who cannot independently stand but are otherwise medically stable. Staff rely on manual lifting techniques that place them at high risk for injury and violate SPHM principles. This provides a controlled, mechanical method to raise a fallen patient from the floor to a seated position without manual lifting. Fall recovery in CBOCS involves nursing assisting the veteran to a standing position or calling 911. Some patients just want nurses to assist them into a standing position after they have been cleared to get up. When staff allow a veteran to pull them on, we cannot control how much weight they are putting on staff. Fall recovery is mandated by Directive 1611 to have equipment. CBOCs do not have fall recovery equipment because they do not have the space. They need a recovery chair that is low profile. The raiser chair was chosen after market research was completed. The Raizer Lifting Chair will allow staff to get veterans up in a timely fashion, reduce potential for injury to veterans and staff and is small and compact and easy to store in the CBOC locations including Lee County PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS: Equipment must have the physical characteristics to enable the government to perform the capabilities: Raizer II Battery Mobile Lifting Chair Name Brand or Equal Lithium Ion Battery Requires only 1 caregiver Lifts in 20-30 seconds Includes a transport bag 300lb minimum lift capacity Rechargeable Charger: 12 V Battery indicator on panel Sound and light indicator for assembly Safe Working Load (SWL) (Maximum total load 150KG) Seat Width 25.7 cm- 27 inches No foam seats Number of lifts on a single charge- Minimum 75 Aluminum frame .FUNCTIONAL AND PERFORMANCE CHARACTERISTICS: Fall recovery devices that help lift a fallen person off the floor safely. Equipment must provide the functional and performance capability as listed above in section in above. TRAINING: Contractor is to provide required training at installation of equipment (if applicable) and support for additional training as needed to VA staff. Government will not require additional training. Safe Patient Handling and Mobility Program Manager will then train staff at each CBOC location. WARRANTY OF EQUIPMENT: 1-5-year maintenance warranty
