Description
3/27/2026- Site visit agenda and sign in sheet, Site visit photos, and bid bond form, all added to the documents section. The Federal Bureau of Prisons (FBOP) herein issues solicitation 15B40126Q00000009 for the award of a firm-fixed-price construction contract for a project entitled Repair Glycol Loop Exchanger at the Metropolitan Correctional Complex (MCC) Chicago, located in Chicago, Illinois. MCC Chicago is a federally owned facility located at 71 W. Van Buren Street, Chicago, IL 60605. The project consists of the following: The Metropolitan Correctional Center (MCC) Chicago has a construction requirement for repairing the Glycol Loop Exchanger. The project consists of furnishing all equipment, materials, and labor for the complete repair to the existing Hybrid Fluid Cooler (Model NXF-0603N-CS2TT -J2 / Nexus TM Modular Hybrid Cooler), 2 Pumps with VFDs, and pipework installed throughout the 27-story high-rise to feed 14 heat pump cooling units. This Glycol Loop, and all components, were installed in 2018. The BAC Tower consists of 2 cells; each cell has an exchanger. The two exchangers have small seam leaks that do not allow the pressure to reach the designed pressure of 150 PSI. Both exchangers need to be repaired at MCC Chicago. Contractors are required to attend a pre-work meeting in order to coordinate and plan with the on-site staff prior to the day of work. All work shall comply with local, state, and federal regulations. The North American Industrial Classification System (NAICS) code applicable to this requirement is 238220 (Plumbing, Heating and Air Conditioning Contractors) with a corresponding small business size standard of $19 million. Pursuant to Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 36.204, the estimated magnitude of the project lies between $100,000 and $250,000 (NOTE: This range is one of 8 available ranges from FAR 36.204 and is not meant to imply that the project has necessarily been estimated/budgeted to the maximum of the selected range. It merely conveys that the estimate/budget lies somewhere within that range.) The solicitation will be distributed solely through the Contract Opportunity website at https://www.sam.gov.
