Description
This project will remodel 20,000 square feet of Building 1 for the Northern Indiana Health Care System, Marion Campus. The proposed project consists of the following: HAZARDOUS MATERIAL abatement as indicated in the Construction Documents, specifically: Attic floor insulation material. All Ceiling systems, including plaster, lath, paint, tile, and grid. All tile and mastic. Carpet adhesive. Sealants. Lead-based paint. Pipe and fitting insulation is assumed in wall chases and above ceilings throughout the building. Underground Site Utilities within the limits of the work. INTERIOR MODIFICATIONS All interior components, walls, ceilings, etc., except for the attic floor structure and roof structure, will be demolished entirely. The interior will be all new construction. A new elevator will be constructed for ADA access and stop at the basement, ADA entry, first floor, and second floor levels. Due to the existing instability of the structure and foundations, a new structural frame will be constructed within the building envelope, a concrete buttress will be added to the perimeter of the building foundation, and engineered helical piers will be installed to stabilize the building. The structure will be constructed in phases to allow for the erection of the steel within the building envelope. The structure, including the floor concrete slab, is designed to accommodate the loading of the structure during the erection of the structural components. Other building improvements include: New Fire Alarm New Fire Suppression System throughout the building. New lightning protection. New Geothermal heating and cooling system. New electrical systems New IT and Security meeting the current VA requirements. EXTERIOR MODIFICATIONS All exterior doors and windows will be removed and replaced. Masonry repair, including re-pointing and selective brick replacement. All exterior porches/ entries will be removed and replaced. Exterior foundation waterproofing A new ADA accessible concrete ramp will be constructed. Most landscaping will be removed for construction and replaced as part of this project.
