Description
PROJECT NUMBER: NM FS 220(1) PROJECT NAME: Romero Creek Bridge PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This project is located in the Gila National Forest in western-central New Mexico. The terrain is rolling and mountainous with elevations ranging up to 8300 ft. The Romero Creek Bridge deck has large areas (approximately 60%) of delamination that are deep (2 to 10). The most recent bridge inspection results indicate the structural evaluation of the bridge to be in poor to serious condition. Proposal would replace this bridge with a similar structure, add bridge rail/guardrail and pave the approaches 100' on each side of the bridge to keep rocks/debris/soil off the deck and to prevent sediment from entering the stream. NFSR 220 will be a main haul route for an upcoming restoration project within the next few years. There is potential for thousands of loads of timber to come out on NFSR 220. SCOPE OF THE WORK: This project consists of replacing an existing bridge structure on Forest Route 220 (MP 7.325) over Romero Creek in Catron County, New Mexico. The existing single-span bridges overall length is 30.4-ft and width (out-out) measures 16.0-ft. The existing roadway width is 14.0-ft. Due to weather, no onsite work is to occur from early March to early May. ESTIMATED COST RANGE: The anticipated cost range is between $700,000 and $2,000,000.
